⚠ ONSSA Certificate Data — Methodology Note

ONSSA (Office National de Sécurité Sanitaire des Produits Alimentaires) issues sanitary authorizations to all olive oil production and bottling units in Morocco. These authorizations are required to legally produce and sell olive oil. Inspectors verify authorization validity, product denomination, durability dates, and producer traceability identifiers.

What is publicly available: ONSSA publishes enforcement actions (withdrawals, suspensions) and regulatory decrees but does not publish a regional breakdown of total active authorizations in any publicly accessible database as of April 2026. The ratio of ONSSA certificates per ton of olive oil produced by region cannot be computed from public data. The figures below reflect what can be confirmed from official enforcement disclosures and sectoral reporting.

ONSSA & Relevance
Volume figures disputed. The "1/3 of national production" figure appears in a 2022 harvest forecast article — not confirmed in Ministry-level regional breakdowns. Treat with caution.
Volume claim unverified High irrigation need World Bank active
Daralbeida relevance: Secondary priority. Long harvest window is a quality risk. Irrigation dependency increases production cost and environmental footprint. Further verification needed.

⚠ Data gap — ONSSA certificates per region

ONSSA does not publish a regional breakdown of total active sanitary authorizations for olive oil production and bottling units. The ratio of ONSSA certificates per ton of olive oil produced cannot be derived from publicly available sources as of April 2026. To obtain these figures, a direct data request must be submitted to ONSSA's regional directorates (Directions Régionales) or to INTERPROLIVE. The national-level enforcement data (7 withdrawals, 11 suspensions, 41 t destroyed in 2024–25) is the only officially published certification-related figure with confirmed regional context.
